We’re a working-class family stepping outside the American grind to test whether a better system exists in Alsace, France. Not rich. Not retired. No fantasy. No glamour. Just real life, lived and examined.

For almost 44 years, my life was measured in miles and minutes behind a steering wheel. Living in Taunton, Massachusetts, meant that even a simple “quick” errand was a logistical event. If we needed a gallon of milk or a loaf of bread, it involved a 20-minute round trip minimum. In that environment, your autonomy is tethered to your vehicle.

We’re a normal American family from Massachusetts who got tired of the endless stress, grind culture, and chaos that seemed baked into everyday life. Endless work hours, mounting bills, and the constant rush left little room for what really matters family, health, and peace of mind. We knew there had to be a better way.
So, we made a bold choice: we moved to Colmar, France. Not for glamour or Instagram-worthy moments, but for real, livable change. A small city with walkable streets, fresh markets, and a slower pace promised the balance we craved. Here, life isn’t about surviving it’s about truly living.
On this blog, we share our journey wins, mistakes, and lessons learned along the way. From parenting in a calmer environment to discovering real food and practical ways to escape the grind, we hope our story inspires other families to imagine a life where sanity, health, and happiness come first. From chaos to croissants it’s possible, and we’re proving it.
